awkward and awesome: gym style

do you love awkward and awesome thursdays at the daybook
me too.
they're always so true.

i recently got my booty back into the gym routine, and realized -- that place is one big breading ground of awkwardness.

awkward:
º butt sweat: no one can pull that look off. that girl was
wearing the cutest long tee, but it was undermining her
cute looks in the booty crack region.
º the shower curtains at the gym: seriously, how am i supposed to keep
my eyes closed while i wash out my hair if all my paranoid self can
picture is someone walking past and getting an eye full.
º using the mirror while someone is changing behind you: i promise i'm just
doing my mascara, not trying to sneak a peak.
º people hovering around you so they can use your machine next:
stop staring. stop pressuring me to get done faster. don't ask
me how many sets i have left.
º leg lifts: i have to do them to rehab my knee and they
never fail to make me feel like i should be sportin' leg
warmers and a unitard. jane fonda would be proud.
º unsuccessfully fighting the urge to sing along: some songs
just know how to get me pumped to pedal faster.
no worries though, i usually just end up mouthing along as
discretely as i can.
º getting out of the pool: exhibit a.

awesome:
º passing people on the track: true they may be 80 years old,
or leisurely walking, but it still feels so good.
º group exercise classes: i love me some step n' tone.
one day i'd like to be an instructor.
º being sore: cause then you know you did something worthwhile.
º people watching: until they catch you watching,
which then becomes awkward. dangit.
º the faculty/staff locker room: so nice and quiet. (but alas, it turns
awkward in here too when the older ladies who must
be very comfy in their own skin decide to weigh themselves...
naked.)
º how you feel after working out: i never regret going to the gym,
even if i try my hardest to make up excuses to not go.

oh hello little curtain. it's nice to see you're trying, but your gaping slits pose a problem. a little privacy while i'm naked might be nice. thanks.

go join in the awkward awesomeness.

Freya, I kid you not, almost every time I'm at the gym I think about doing a post so very similar to this! Ha! But you must be more positive than I, because I always just see so many awkward things. Mostly having to do with people walking around nakey in the locker rooms. Seriously. I don't want to see yo' goodies! What in the world?! Loved this post almost as much as I love you! ;D

haha Freya! I've always wanted to copy the daybook's awkward and awesome list but I could never do it justice. I think you did a good job.
