every little detail: part 1

okay so here are details about the details of baby g's shower.
like i said before, the things we made were simple, yet effective, so if i am insulting your intelligence by explaining this stuff, then just look at the pictures and carry on with your day. if not, then please enjoy my two cents!

when my sister was planning her wedding our mother's motto was,
"no one will notice on a fast moving horse"
quite true (and very reassuring for an overstressed bride who is sewing her own wedding dress), but sometimes, it's nice to focus on those tiny little details we all miss from our fast horses because it's those small things we don't usually think to notice that really make all the difference between mediocre and magnificent.

with that being said...
i spent more time than probably necessary, making the labels for the shower.
i made labels for everything i could think of, and while it is true you don't really need labels to explain that those are chips in that bowl, and here is a little something we call fruit,
i think they were a much appreciated detail.

i have a very limited font selection so the trick i used was stealing cute fonts off of picnik.com.
i took a photo and exposed and contrasted it off the charts until it was as white as my little behind. i then typed my words in the little brackets i'm obsessed with {because that's just one more detail right?} in the font "pupcat". then i saved the photo to my desktop and chose the option "continue editing picture" to keep my white canvas and fill in my next set of words. i continued that cycle until all of the words were done, and i did them in sets of four or five per photo. i then inserted the pictures into word so i could make them bigger and print out a bunch per page.

the final touch was the scrapbook paper and card stock i then glued them to. even though i put them in books to press them flat and the glue was made by martha herself, they still were a little too warped for my liking, so next time i'll just use rolled up scotch tape.
