birthday cake: baseball style

here's a little easy cake decorating for a baseball themed birthday...

pan used: wilton ball pan
inside: funfetti
outside: cream cheese frosting and red gel
technique: crumb coat then refrigerate, ice again refrigerate, use a toothpick to draw the line your laces will follow

pan used: 13 x 9
inside: funfetti and cake donut
outside: cream cheese frosting, and cream cheese frosting with wilton blue dye
technique: cut your rectangle in half and stack it, place your donut at one end to get the right angle you want to cut off each side, shave off the square corner so the bat is round as well. after icing is cooled use a toothpick to draw the name, using a small round hole tip write the name and ta daaa.

the theme for this birthday was also red white and blue so instead of adding grass around the bases of the cakes, we added stars.

*if you have the time, fondant would create a cleaner look.  also, coating the bat in crushed graham crackers would make it look more like a wooden bat.
