bakerella's snickerdoodle duo

q: what's better than cookies or cupcakes?

a: cookies and cupcakes at the same time.

me and my friend karen (with the help of bakerella and martha stewart) made these amazing snickerdoodle cupcakes that get topped with icing and a snickerdoodle cookie and more icing!

we both realized the last time we made snickerdoodles was in middle school (home ec class for me), but with how much i love cinnamon and with how much my boo loves sugar cookies, i have no clue how i haven't made these jokers sooner.

we made the cupcakes first so they had more time to cool, then made the cookies, and while the cookies were going we made the icing. we used buttercream instead of the icing martha suggests.

here's the finished product, yum!

our cookies didn't turn out as flat as bakerella's so i suggest making smaller balls and pressing the dough with your hand to help them think flatter thoughts.

you can also see in this picture that we remembered to put on the cinnamon sugar garnish, and i think it really makes a difference.
