running for the bay

this weekend we spent some time at brett's mom's house because jp ran in the run for the bay half marathon. i'm loving this cool weather, even if it kept us in jackets at the beach.

my new favorite picture.

my second new favorite picture. jp should always take our picture if it'll get brett to really smile!

the beach and waves were so still and quiet it was weird.

we found a truck version of the cruiser in appalach. we took multiple pictures of brett with it (per brett's request not mine for once. ha) and the owner apparently didn't appreciate it because he came and sat on the bumper (without speaking to us) and as soon as we walked away he left too. silly.

we hung out on the pier while jp picked up his race packet.

that house boat is as big as a house! porch swing included.

jp's race was bright and early sunday morning. we tried to make him miss it by sleeping in! whoops, sorry jp! it was quite chilly out, but really pretty.

the plan was to cheer him through the start, run home and get ready for church just in time to head back to see his finish. unfortunately, because of all the runners turning around on the bridge to do the shorter races, it took us the same time to drive 6 miles as it took jp to run it.

i'm glad we caught jp at mile 6 since we missed cheering him at the end. and really it's his fault we missed the finish since he ran it almost twenty minutes faster than he was shooting for! that guy he's running with was a designated pacer for the race. pretty neat.

first in his age group, sixth overall. not too shabby for a first timer! is that a medal around your neck or a giant mood ring?

watching all those people run really made me miss running and wish that it was me crossing that pretty bridge on foot. now i'm motivated for the turkey trot! who's with me?

Way to go JP! And yes I think you have found your future family photographer with JP so you can have pictures of your whole family smiling!
