recovering from the long weekend

what a busy weekend.
every second was booked.

friday when i got home from work i just wanted to chill and finish my apron sewing project, but brett wanted to go get out of the house. so finally we left around 8 to eat at chick fil a then we headed to old navy to check out their memorial day sale. we ran into lauren and ashby while we hurriedly scoped out the clearance rack before it closed which was quite exciting! from there we went to the bachelor pad for andrew's farewell from tallahassee. it was so strange to be back at the pad. it's been years. it's also strange to say it's been years. brett was pretty excited to hit up some volley pong like back in the day.
we got home late so i didn't end up finishing the apron and card till 3. boo.

saturday morning came too early. i headed off to kasey's shower. shout out to whoever made the baked french toast at that shower cause it was sooo good! i definitely need that recipe in my shower food repertoire.
next, i went to my parent's house to walk ruby dog since they were out of town to see pappy. i sure miss my dawg ruby. from there i met up with brett at the new hobby lobby! woo! but didn't even buy anything ha. we drove together to a house warming get together at cameron and racheal's. those babies are soo cute! and that's actually the first time we've ever seen them in person too! and here's where my voice started going down hill.
i went and walked ruby again then headed home to deal with the mess left behind from my sewing.
we got crazy and decided to rearrange the house at nine o'clock at night. we switched the spare bed back to where it was when we first got married. dejavu.

brett's so funny. this old poster of me surfaced in the shuffle of our junk between rooms. i was surprised when i walked in our room and this was up above my side of the bed.

sunday my voice disappeared down to a whisper. after church i went with brett to home teach, did a little bloggity blogging, then went to the briggs to take some pictures of meagan and brinley in sweet outfits meagan sewed for them. brett met us over there for breakfast for dinner. poor brinley wasn't too fond of him though. sad, but funny.
meagan's got some mad skills. she makes cute babies and clothes.

monday brett had to get up too early for his liking to help someone move. it felt sooo good to finally get to stay in bed and be the one to get kissed goodbye in the morning. they were speedy movers though and he got back in record time to crawl back in bed. my coughing got me kicked out of the bedroom so brett could catch a nap before we hit up wakulla springs. we haven't been there in years, i forgot all of the colorful characters that run around there. us and some other couples from the ward hit up the glass bottom boat ride since it never runs, but i think that's the last time i'll ever do that ride - just stick with the regular boat ride yall. we get two feet from the dock and the tour guide tells us, "oh yeah i hear you guys talking about seeing alligators and animals, well you're not going to see any of those on this ride." the tour went over to the high jump where the mouth of the spring is, to see how deep it goes and to see all the fish, but wait, there aren't any fish anymore. laaame. the main theme of the tour was "wakulla springs used to be awesome and had lots of fish, but because of all our run off and pollution on the land, now it sucks."

the sun rays going through the water were gorgeous. the seaweed and algae, not so gorgeous.

here's a gar fish scoping out the log tarzan swam through in the movie.

this picture sums up the boat tour: strugglin' to find something interesting to look at while the tour guide laughs to herself about one of her factoids.

after the sprangs, my friend karen from high school came over to get our bake on. we made peanut butter chocolate whoopie pies from bakerella. soo yummy, especially the frosting. after baking we went to todd and sarah's to hang with them and evan and karley. we weren't there for too long though. we went northside to walk ruby again and go to the snyder's to see ryan off for his two year mission to cali (right next door to where brett served).

whew.
what a weekend.
and what a weekend to get sick.
i probably should have taken it easy. i'm still working on getting better. i've worked at my job for a year and i took my first sick leave time off yesterday afternoon - mostly because i felt guilty coughing in the silent office, and how was i supposed to answer my phone without a voice?

p.s. happy anniversary to kyre and lolly!
5 years? whaaat?
where has the time gone?
it seems like just yesterday i was at fsu orientation
then skippin' town for their wedding in orlando,
i can't believe that was actually 5 years ago!

I love that you call her ruby dog :) when you type and not just when we all talk about her. it's weird like would we call me emily human or emily mom? i don't know but it's one our family quirks that make me smile

i love that you blog at lunch! gives me something happy to keep me revved up for the long afternoon ahead. love you!!!

Oh my gosh laugh out LOUD!!!! Definitely didn't see ANY fish of value. AND Brinley found the rednecks jumping off the high dive more interesting than the boat tour. OOOOOOOOO Jackie :-) Her laugh was OUT of control. She thought she was SOOO funny lol

Thanks for taking those pics again :-) I am planning on putting lots up on our walls!! Thanks!!!
