we grew up in the same town, brett was even friends with my brother in middle school, we were in the same ward for a couple months, but i would call this the day we officially met and the first day we ever talked to each other.
a bunch of people went to play tennis on campus after friday forum (a friday tradition). brett was a little intimidating with that rudder cutter of his, and a little intimidating since i was a 19 year old kiddie and he was my brother's age and post mish. after tennis i went to run stadiums and brett was kind enough to take my racquet for me so i wouldn't have to go back to my car first.
there was a fifth ward halloween party that night. i went as little red riding hood, and brett as a metro guy. we walked together to his car to get my racquet. he was leaving to drive to st. george and i thought he was some kind of crazy to be leaving that late.
who would have guessed where we'd end up.
(well kim brock that's who. we were vt companions and while were we driving around to visit our
girls she called it straight up. she said we were gonna get hitched before we even started dating.)
