the new addition(s)

as usual, saturday was a little more nutso than anticipated.
partly because todd and sarah had the baby!
and partly because after searching high and low, getting our hopes up many a time, only to have them crushed... we bought a "new" car!

the weekend went a little something like this...

saturday morning i helped lolly and her mom get ready for the young women general broadcast for a bit. then brett called and said to say that the accord man he'd been contacting from craigslist wanted to meet up at 11:30! holler. so we drove across town to meet him at publix. brett bought himself a banana while we waited, but his man hands were just too strong for the little guy.

when the accord man got there we went on a test drive. after some awkward conversation, we found out accord man just finished up his phd in chemistry and had to sell the car since he's going back to korea this week. even though it's an 04, it only has 47,000 miles on it because he pretty much just drove it to and from fsu.

then we parted ways with accord man so we could decide if we wanted it.
it took about five minutes in the publix parking lot for us to commit.
so we hopped next door to the bank. called accord man to haggle the price one more time and figure out how to spell his name.
getting the cashier's check was painful. brett kept saying his famous phrase "i feel nauseous" even though he did such a good job finding a deal in our price range.

accord man couldn't meet up again till later that evening so we called my parents to see if they wanted us to bring the focus back to them. this turned into us just eating lunch with them and talking about car stories the whole time (i'll have to share some of their crazy car tales sometime).

while we were at lunch toddly called to see if i could come be with james cause they needed to head to the hospital. no problemo. james is the best kid in the world, so easy to babysit. sarah's mom got into town just in time to relieve me of james duty so we could pick up our car!!!!
i can't remember the last time i was in such a good mood. and i've never been so excited to go down the street to buy milk at the dollar store before.

i ended up spending the night at todd and sarah's with james and sarah's little sister so her mom could be with her. once again james was a doll. easy peasy.
that little baby savannah didn't come until 3 in the morning!
she was born on my grandpa's birthday. (and her due date was my nana's birthday.)
she's such a cutie with her lovely red locks.
todd and sarah did good.

little cupie doll hair

so seepy.
she didn't like my flash much so i had to abandon it.

i love baby feet.

after we saw little baby savannah & co. at the hospital today we went home to tackle a slight problem with the car. apparently accord man was a smoker. we borrowed an ozone machine from the lehtos which hopefully does the trick! we've also baking soda-ed it to death and left a cup of vinegar in there just in case.

i'm so excited to drive to work tomorrow!

p.s. and somewhere in there this weekend we both got new callings. i must say it was a little bitter sweet for me. i've been in primary so long i was kinda itching to go somewhere else, but i really am sad to go. i didn't know that cub scout cake was going to be my last hurrah before i left! i'm a counselor in young woman's now, and it's sure to be an adventure! brett's the athletics specialist now. he's pretty excited, that's right up his alley.

p.p.s. we look like a used car lot over here right now. four of those five cars are ours.

What a great car you found!!!! We're also in the market for a second carne cars. It's just getting challenging with one car. We've managed for our whole marriage so it'll be a real treat to get another car. I don't think it'll happen until the end of the year...but it's fun to dream.

YAY for YW! You'll love it, but it sure was a shocker for me. Sometimes its just a bit...crazy with all the girls chatting at once. But they are fantastic and really are sweet girls.

Aren't new babies the BEST???

Funny story, when they called Brett's calling I heard them say "paramedic specialist". I never heard of that calling before but with his pharmacy background it made sense. I asked Lance if that's what they had said and he didn't know. Then I asked Lori and she wasn't sure. Finally I figured out it was athletic specialist.
I love that Todd and Sarah's baby had red hair! So cute!

Freya! I loved this post, as I do all your posts! (I just love the way you write...it cracks me up) How exciting on your great car deal! That is awesome! I have never heard of an ozone machine before, but I hope it does the trick for ya:) And...can I puhlease say that I wanted you in YW right when you moved into the ward!? I always knew you'd be da bomb in there (obviously the Lord had other plans and you had to go be bomb in primary:) But glad you're there now! Congratulations on being an aunt again-- how neat that she had red hair just like her aunt-a-liscious. ;)

I'm so happy that you guys got a new car... seriously I worried about you and/or brett driving the focus around town. Just think how cool the accord will look with a bike rack on the back... Oh oh oh and an "I Tri" sticker, since now this is offically your car
