every little detail: part 2

let's talk inedible cake.
doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but if it's for a good cause i guess it's okay.

use a circle of cardboard for your cake base. roll up the diapers and secure them with rubber bands (or child hair bands if you can swing it). you don't have to, but you can put a baby bottle in the middle to help stabilize it. then put anything you want all over it, we chose ribbons, booties, a headband, and hair clips.

here's the lowdown on the booties:
booty-licious

i made baby g some booties to keep her toesies warm.
i really should have devoted more time to this project and done it right, but i don't think baby g will mind.
i found the pattern for these here on so you think you're crafty.
*note to self: always bookmark awesome links, it took me until today to track down this same tutorial.

when i say i should have done them right, i mean i should have followed the tutorial and made them out of fabric with interfacing and lining. these will not hold up against much more than carpet walking. she gives you patterns for different ages, so if you go the felt route, also go for the youngest option since they won't use them for walking.

these are really easy to make, it took me one night watching tv and one car ride to orlando to hand sew them and the flowers.

speaking of flowers, the flowers on the shoes and cake are also super easy, so tune in next time.
