next, it's nashville

our second destination of our vacation was nashville, tennessee. it was nice to have vacation time in nashville for once so we could explore and spend time with brett's dad, step-mom (julie), and step-brother (chad). we went to the opryland hotel with julie, and it's crazy how huge that place is. when you're walking in the atrium you really feel like you could be outside. luckily julie just got an iphone so she was our personal photographer, much to brett's chagrin.
it's so huge! how do they do it?!

you can't see it here, but right under us there is a little river that you can take a boat ride on. they took water from all over the country and the world to make up the river, and it had some pretty cool fishies.

brett was pretty sick of picture taking, but you can't tell here
we made some new friends

so we also went to andrew jackson's estate called the hermitage while we were there, and it was amazing! everything was so well preserved since it became a museum when jackson's daughter in law died in the 1880's. they wouldn't let us take pictures inside because constant flashes of light damage it (like the original wall paper, how crazy!) i can't wait to teach one day, and hopefully get to take my students to places like this where history really comes alive and isn't so boring.
