happy birthday to me

it's been another year already? i'm 24? 

sick.

it seems like just yesterday i turned 23 and started pic of the day posts! i've really been looking forward to my birthday so i could finish pic of the day. i stuck with it for a full year and now i'm burned out. it's felt so nice this week to not worry about what picture i got for today. ahh. i'll be doing one last pic of the day wrap up post this weekend.

we had my family over on sunday to celebrate my birthday eve.

we made everyone eat vegan/oil free with us - black bean oatmeal burgers (sooo good!), fries (more like baked potatoes), and vegan birthday cake. as you can see we didn't get the cake right on the first go round. brett made it, and we pried it out of the pan, and thought to ourselves, "looks like thick wheat pancakes, weird" then we tasted it and said to ourselves, "tastes like wheat bread, can't really taste the sweet," and then brett starts laughing as a realization hits him. apparently the sugar never made it in. whoops. so he remade the cake which came out like cake this time instead of pancake. that icing is tofu chocolate icing, but kind of melted at the point i took the pic.

not the best birthday cake i ever had, but i still finished my slice. i'm willing to give the icing another shot, but i think we need to find another cake recipe.

i went to work as usual for my actual birthday on monday. it was actually kind of a crazy day work-wise. i was very happy when brett came to take me to lunch.

we went to panera and were twinners.

brett also gave me some vegan treats for my desk at work.

my main present from brett was a shopping trip (he also got me this nifty gadget and some dry shampoo. ha i must have a problem). it's really been a while since i hit up the mall and on my way there i couldn't help but sing some robin sparkles to myself. i was shocked at how many new stores there are! i spent four hours shopping until i finally got a whole outfit.

i'm now the proud owner of some jeggings. ha. i put on my new outfit to show brett and he said, "are those jeggings?" i was shocked he knew these skinny jeans were jeggings and asked him how in the world he knew, but he actually just knows how to read huge tags. smarty.

i had a happy, happy birthday! thanks to everyone who helped make it special! shout out to my girl keri who was up who knows how early to leave a little something for me to find on my doorstep! thanks girl!
