**2/2/12 just streamlined the about us page, but didn't want to delete the old super long one so i'm turning it into a post dated when it was originally written. even though i'm posting back in time, it's probably still popping up on your google reader, so sorry! go check out the updated page!

new here? or been here a while and want to know some details you might have missed? well here's us, in a nutshell.

we are both florida born and raised, although brett did spend some of his early years in tennessee.

we're babies of the 80's. brett was born in the summer, and freya was born in the fall. we're three years apart (but four grades, a fact which makes brett cringe). such a cradle robber (but not really, he's just silly). 

brett has an older brother bill and a younger step brother chad.

freya is the youngest of six.
clara, emily, evan, kyre, todd, then freya the red caboose.

despite his crazy antics (ramping bikes, climbing water towers, etc.), brett survived his youth. after high school he went on a two year mission for our church to long beach, california. we're lds. our religion makes up a huge part of our lives. we don't know where we'd be without it.

we became mr. & mrs. rudder on august 9, 2008 in the orlando lds temple.
(just a little side note: freya doesn't like odd numbers, so that was one big compromise to settle on getting married on the 9th. she's not crazy, but she secretly hopes all the kids they have are born on even days.) 

brett is an avid golfer (a fact he kept hidden until after the wedding, smart boy). he likes to make plans for one day when he's on the senior tour. and as you can see by his hat he's also a cubby's fan (he was also in chicago for a stint in his childhood before settling in tenn).

we're into sports of all kinds. tennis played a big part in getting us two love birds together. we also love football, biking, swimming, volleyball, basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, disc golf, softball....

freya's into running and triathloning. brett's a cheerleader.

brett likes to fish. he also loves to wear shawty shorts. but more than anything (even the air flow he gets in that columbia shirt), he looooooves him some chacos.
brett also tans like it's his job, unlike freya.

brett's been snowboarding for years, he's a pro. it's an annual christmas tradition to go with his dad. freya has only been snowboarding twice, and still has a thing or two to learn. freya goes backwards down the mountain.

brett's favorite restaurant is coosh's bayou rouge. he hung out there in high school, worked there in college, and still helped out at the annual crawfish bawl after he quit. buffalo sauce is one of his favorite things in life. he's also a coke zero addict. freya is the exact opposite. she's not too into eating out, and she doesn't drink soda. (she'd rather spend her money on clothes.)

freya is the queen of sweets. she's got the baking down, but still needs to work on learning to cook. she loves makin' treats and especially eatin' em. peanut butter and chocolate are definitely her favorite combination. brett on the other hand, is not a fan of chocolate. he could eat bananas/banana flavored anything, all day, everyday.

which came first, brett's love for the color orange or his love for the volunteers? that's like the chicken and the egg, no one will ever know. with his strong tennessee ties, and the fact that his dad played football for ut, brett is naturally a huge fan. one day, "rocky top" will be a lullaby for our kiddos.

freya grew up a florida state seminole, but is not a die hard fan like brett with his vols. brett couldn't care less about those noles, he's such an SEC snob.
jeopardy! is one of our favorite shows. we prefer alex with the stache.

we love being aunt freya and uncle brett. our nieces and nephews are multiplying at an alarmingly fast rate - all the more fun for us.

brett's first true love is his first car. a 1978 cruiser. this project car has kept him busy (and smelling like gasoline) over the years. it taught him how to fix cars, sometimes by ghetto rigging them, which has really come in handy (especially since freya still drives her first car, a 2000 ford focus wagon, that is not known for reliability). brett has tried to sell the cruiser in the past, but just couldn't bear to see his baby driving away with someone else.

brett is a math and science kind of guy. he fought the urge to major in golf management or physical education and is on his way to becoming a pharmacist, white coat and all. brett is in his third year at famu (go rattlers) and has made some great friends in his program.

luckily for brett, freya is an english and history person, she has corrected many a paper for that boy. freya graduated from fsu with a degree in social science education. she taught middle school for half a year and is now an editor in academic publications at fsu.

once upon a time freya bought a shirt from goodwill that said "me gusta guster" not knowing it was talking about a band. weeks later she met brett who saw her wearing the shirt and tried to strike up a conversation about the band. freya had to admit she was clueless, so brett burned her a cd and the rest is history.
words cannot describe how much we ♥ guster.

some other musical talents that we just can't live without are the allman brothers, robert earl keen, old crow medicine show (pictured above, we went to this concert just weeks before we got married), jack johnson, the beatles, mana, mayday parade, and michael buble. we love music, so it's hard to keep the list short.  

freya enjoys being crafty in her spare time. she also enjoys party planning and partying in general (she is definitely the more social of the two. brett is the strong silent type).

since brett was a kid, his dad and family and friends go camping for a week in the summer at fall creek falls in tennessee. this is where the rook championship of the world is held, brett and his bestie from high school brian were once the champions. (okay it's actually just a family tournament, but brian did update wikipedia once to say that.)

we also like tie dye.

freya looooooooves the beach. brett haaaaaates the sand.

brett is a sailor. we're currently boatless, but once upon a time we loved sailing our way around appalachicola/st. george. brett wants to always be referred to as el capitan, but he also wants to name a kid bear, so he's obviously crazy.

freya wants to be a photographer one day when she grows up. she also enjoys blogging (obviously) and wouldn't mind being a professional blogger too. brett likes poking fun at freya for blogging, but she knows the joke's on him since she's the one publishing stories about him.
