last night we went to brett's white coat ceremony (all pharmacy schools do it some time during the first year to symbolize the students starting their professional careers). brett wanted to skip it, he didn't think it was that big of a deal so i made sure to get him some flowers for the momentous occasion (i had to get him orange flowers cause he said if i ever got him flowers that's what they had to be. duh. sadly the only orange flowers at publix were basically dead, but i had to get em cause i had no options. lame). it was a long three hours and way longer for brett since he got there two hours early for a final practice. it was my first FAM activity though so i was pretty stoked. it was nice cause i finally got to put faces to all the names of professors and other students that i always hear so much about. all the students that got up always introduced themselves like this... "i am brett p. rudder a p1 pharmD candidate from tallahassee, florida" it's possibly brett's biggest pet peeve about pharmacy school (second being the fact that they say matriculation every two seconds).

here they are about to be coated by members of the faculty. there are 142 people in brett's class.

i thought it was really cool how much they incorporated religion into ceremony. the students who spoke or sang talked about how God would see them through these hard years of schooling and all of the faculty speakers thanked God for their success and told the students to love and serve their fellowman. the dean of the pharmacy school said a lot was lost when they took God out of schools and so they put Him back into school. there were two musical numbers by the students and this one was my favorite part of the whole ceremony. i missed filming the best part when they split into parts, but oh well. i really want a copy of this version of this song. be careful it'll get stuck in your head.
p.s. as you can tell it wasn't very formal back in the back where i was sittin ha
