st. george lighthouse

this weekend we went to st. george island to hang out with brett's mom. the beach is always relaxing, we just hung out and walked around the antique stores in appalach. on saturday we went up in the newly re-built st. george lighthouse! it was so cool! the
lighthouse was built on little st. george in the 1840s, but finally because of storms and such it fell in 2005.
the st. george lighthouse association (including brett's mom) worked to collect all of the original bricks to rebuild the lighthouse in the middle of the main island (straight ahead of where you get off the bridge). right now they're trying to locate the original light that
was up there. it's a cool little piece of history.
little visitor's center and spruced up park. you can pay five bucks to walk up to the top
walkin' the 80 steps up to the top. the steps are made out of a really old tree cut down from the plantation (the end of the island closest to little st. george)
view through the scuttle hole to the lantern room (though no lantern yet)
comin on up
chillin in the lantern room. it was actually really hot in there, but i liked it better than the cold winter weather outside
the view from the top!
here's the rudder step! brett's mom bought it before her kids were married, so she said she's gonna get a brick for the walkway that have me and katie on it and another brick that says grandma and emme!
