bakerella adventures

i'm no martha stewart, but i think it's fun to try. i dunno what it is, it could be that i finally have my own kitchen and lots of new gadgets to try, perhaps? but i'm always in a baking mood now. i think bakerella's blog definitely has something to do with it too. there are so many creative, tasty treats there that i want to make them all.

candace got her gallbladder taken out last week so me and renee brought her some cake to make her feel better as she chilled on the couch feeling sicky. i made the sprite cake from bakerella. it is so moist! i wanted to try orange soda cause it's candace's favorite but i wasn't brave enough because you can definitely taste the soda, maybe next time... she still has her appendix... for now.

my next baking adventure didn't turn out quite as planned, but it was still worth it. my work had a bake sale/competition to raise money for the united way. it was really hard to decide what to make cause everything seemed sooo good but i went with cupcake pops cause they look pretty impressive. on the blog they look beautiful and perfect and the step by step instructions with pictures make it seem so easy, but my cookie cutter and my chocolate didn't cooperate as easily as they should have. i was supposed to make 25 of them on popsicle sticks but for some strange reason only 5 decided to actually stay on their stick. oh well they still looked cute, sadly looks didn't win the competition though. i got second place to a pumpkin pie cheesecake that was actually kinda lame. it was okay though because if i would have voted for a winner i wouldn't have chosen myself, there was a killer peanut butter pie that should have won hands down, it was much better than the pops (the pops kinda have a strange texture to me, but i'll make em again one day).
