the secret life of bees

i just got back from seeing The Secret Life of Bees and it was absolutely amazing! (also, i forgot how cheap it is to see a movie as part of the weekday escape and it makes me never want to see a movie on the weekend for full price again) i read the book in 11th grade and the movie lived up to how i pictured everything. the movie was very emotionally intense, it got me good. i had silent tears running down my face. a lot. when i cry in a movie there's always a little internal struggle going on inside my head because i try not to wipe my tears for as long as i can. when you wipe the tears the rest of the row sees it out of the corner of their eyes and knows you're the weakest link, the first one to succumb to the tears, and unfortunately, that was me tonight. it was funny to look around the theater and see couples watching the movie where the girl would be crying and the guy would be shaking his head and laughing at her, it made me glad i saw the movie with three crying girls instead of brett (i cried when i read the last harry potter book and all he could do was laugh at me). we saw it for my friend's 21st birthday (we downed a few wax bottle candies while we waited for the movie to start) and afterwards we felt kinda bad for making her cry on her birthday. i'm adding this movie to my list of favorites and my list of dvds to buy.
